State Representative 2nd Bristol District

Economy and Spending:

We are in the throes of a deep financial crisis.  Beacon Hill politicians continue to mismanage and
continue to accept business as usual. Our "rainy day fund" is gone as a result of out of control
spending and wasteful expenditures.  I pledge to be a reformer as a new member of the legislature
and bring common sense back to government.

Education:

Legislators have to determine how to get the best bang for our buck!    We can accomplish this
through streamlining, consolidation and careful spending.  By following this formula, we can give our
students the highest quality education possible.

Jobs:

We have to look to programs that will stimulate entrepreneurial efforts.  One possible area is in the
green sector; clean energy is a growth industry in which long term jobs can be created.  Investment
and employment tax credits must be initiated quickly to stimulate the economy.  We must find ways
to encourage and support small business in the Commonwealth in order to increase jobs and reduce
unemployment.  Small business is the backbone to an economic recovery.

Taxation:

I support a tax rollback to 5%, as unanimously supported by the taxpayers of Massachusetts. By
controlling spending and entitlement programs, we can achieve and attain long term stability. I have
taken the pledge from Citizens for Limited Taxation, not to initiate or support any new taxes!
